Crape Myrtle – the follow up post

As a follow up post to yesterday’s article on “crape murder,” here are a couple pictures of some crape myrtles that we pruned earlier today.  Remember, the best time to trim a crape myrtle is in the fall or winter when the plant is in a dormant stage.

As you see in the after picture, the crape myrtles have a nice mushroom or rounded top.  This is very appeasing to the eyes and enhances the winter look of the bushes as well as prepares them for a beautiful bloom in the spring and summer.
